Miraculous Air was given to me years ago by a friend who worked at the University of Utah that was involved with the publication. I loaned it to a friend and never saw the book again, but this is a book I wanted for my book collection to read over and over, so I bought this copy. I absolutely love the travel story of C.M.Mayo's travel's through Baja California. I hope some day to visit the places she visited. I remember reading this book the first time and thinking how daring and adventurous she was to travel all these places alone. I am sure some of the places she wrote about are tourist attractions today, but this book planted the seed in my heart to want to travel to Baja California and visit many of the places she spent time. It is a lovely, descriptive book of a beautiful area of Mexico and celebrates the people and culture of Baja California. The product description made this sound like a travel memoir. I expected some commentary on the economic realities she encountered and the triumphs and tribulations of the people she met along the way. However, this book published in 2002 contained more than 80 references to Luis Colosio - the aspiring politician assassinated in 1994. I was looking for travel insights, so found this book disappointing.
